In August 1986 the leader of the Federation of Students of the University of Santiago (Feusach) ex Ute. Mario Martinez Rodriguez was found dead on the beaches of Santo Domingo.
Since then, the cause of death is still unknown, as are hundreds of murder cases that occurred during the 17 years of dictatorship civil-military. The authorities of the time made no effort to clarify the facts, rather the difficulty, as the initial intimidation of witnesses by the usual unknown civilians.
Twenty years later, the situation has not changed much, although they have already spent twenty years since democracy was restored. Efforts to clarify the crimes and disappearances continue to be unsuccessful. So remember this date should serve to reflect on a pending task for the truth.
Commemorate Mario does not have a hateful purpose is a fond remembrance by the leader, friend, comrade of routes and the man who today could serve his country as a professional. However, his memory still has the bitter taste of truth and justice so outstanding.
This should be one of the major challenges of the bicentennial of the republic, having the certainty that their future will be built on solid ethical and democratic pillars. Not forgetting the pardon or contribute to it.
Mario, just as others, representing all victims of the dictatorship, spread throughout the country national, whose family still require to find his remains, the truth of the facts and justice. The main responsibility lies with the civilian and military until today hold positions of national importance, the military branches and their intelligence agencies, can help it and the civilians who collaborated with Pinochet.
