He earned his Bachelor of Science (Pharmacy), University of Puerto Rico, the master's degree in Library Science from Rutgers University and a doctorate in philosophy and literature with specialization in the field of librarianship and information for University of Illinois at Urbana.
Many were students who were enriched by their knowledge and professional enforceable through courses Resources and Reference Resources in the Natural Sciences Library, Cataloguing Principles Subject and Indexing, Index: theory and practice research methods applied to the Library and Information Resource Organization.

His academic excellence earned her several awards from international organizations such as Beta Phi Mu, Alpha Chapter, University of Illinois, and the Master Lesson Fulladosa Josefina del Toro, the highest honor of the Library Company of Puerto Rico. The University of Puerto Rico's honored with the title of Professor Emeritus, granting all the rights and responsibilities of academic staff involved in this academic distinction.
Family, Graduate School of Science and Information Technologies Joins Rosa Bernal family at this difficult time to understand, are sister and hugs to each and every one of its members, warmly, clasping their hearts to share deep feeling that overwhelms them. We pray to Almighty God that gives them the consoling balm to the promise and assurance that there will be a meeting tomorrow, hopefully.

The wake of Dr. Emilia Bernal-Rosa is in his hometown of San Sebastian. The funeral home is San Sebastian Memorial, on Rt 111, Barrio of Guatemala (787.896.2155). The chapel will be open until 2:00 pm today when he officiated a mass. At 3:00 pm, the funeral procession will leave the private cemetery Pepino Memorial Park.
