Creating indexes for books, journals, databases and repositories requires the student and professional acquire information about specialized knowledge and unique skills in information processing, to develop key competencies analysis content and digital tools.
Developing the ability to function effectively as an indexer, analyzing content for better knowledge management and ease of access, allows the professional information both proactively and successfully perform its information unit, but make it easier for you work as indexer or consultant specialized in different environments, outside of their primary place of work, increasing their professional competitiveness in the labor market, and allow you to expand your income.
Graduate School of Science and Information Technology offers the opportunity for a collaborative space, students and professional information, which will introduce the methodology, standards, techniques, structures and procedures related to the development and evaluation processes, quality, rates and value-added products. The course entitled
Indexing and Thesaurus Construction (CINF 6207 , Sec. 3U1, 2 cred.) Will be offered Saturdays from 10:00 to 11:50, from August to December 2009, at GSIST . I will give the Prof. Maria de los Angeles Zavala-Columbus (MLS, CAS) , mzavala@coqui.net, director of the Center for Learning Resources at the University of Puerto Rico, Bayamon who has extensive experience in organizing information.
sabatino At this meeting participants will be exposed to a sample of different models of indexing, the quality and consistency of content analysis, the development of different types of indexes and thesauri knowledge of diversity, such as that created by Marcela Cardona-Herrera , MLS degree from the GSIST: http://eprints.rclis.org/5433/
The course requires basic knowledge in cataloging, and key management in the organization of information.
